Counselling for the Community

TWU Counselling Psychology students provide a broad range of counselling services to the community. While under the supervision of professional counsellors and faculty, students see clients from all walks of life. This valuable assistance offered by our students is conducted in a closed-circuit environment to assure complete client confidentiality.

Fraser River Counselling Centre

Fraser River Counselling Centre (FRC), directed by Bart Begalka, is located on the beautiful campus of Trinity Western University. It is one of several counsellor training sites designed for the purpose of providing both practicum and internship experience.

Other Counselling Locations

Fraser River Counselling Centre operates out of three sites:

  • Langley - Main campus of TWU, 7600 Glover Road
  • Langley- Nicomekl Elementary School, 20050 53rd Ave. Directions: located on bus routes C61 and C63. See BUS SCHEDULES
  • Surrey- Guildford Medical Centre, 15300-105th Avenue

Cost

There is a $10 charge for counselling services per visit. In case of hardship this fee can be waived. Income generated from these fees go directly back into enhancing the services offered to our clients, such as increased intake and referral service and improved observation technology.

Availability

Counselling services at all of FRC locations are available from late September to late July of the next year, generally on Mondays and Wednesdays.

How to Contact Us

To enquire about our service or to be put on the waitlist, please contact the FRC intake worker by phone at (604) 513-2113.

The intake worker will conduct a brief phone interview in order to assess the suitability of the counselor-client match and will either refer you to an FRC counsellor at the location most convenient for you, or to an alternate counselling service that would be better suited to your needs.

Please be aware that the intake counsellor is a student, and therefore, not a full-time employee. It is likely that you will reach our voice-mail service. It is always helpful to leave a number where the intake worker can contact you. You will generally be contacted within two working days. We appreciate your patience.
